24x30 canvas "Turning Point"

$1,200.00

This visceral work surges with the raw, gestural force of Abstract Expressionism - a field of color, movement, and emotion where form is secondary to feeling. Layers of pigment are scraped, dragged, and reimagined, revealing glimpses of underpainting.

The palette oscillates between chaos and control - vivid reds and yellows pulse against deep blacks and cobalt blues. The result is an image both volatile and alive, like an interior landscape revealing itself through instinct, unfiltered emotional resonance.

24 × 30 × 1.5 inches

layers of acrylic and polymer mediums on gallery-profile canvas

Erin Lofton (b. 1964) is a visionary American artist in a unique genre. Her sensual expressionistic paintings are interpretations and explorations of beauty and chaos, dreams and visions.  The work she produces are a deep dive into themes of Nature, Romantic Mysticism, and Mythology.

Lofton was born and raised in the Hyde Park Historic District of Chicago. She studied fashion design, painting, and sculpture in the 1980s at Otis Art Institute and Parsons School of Design and Arizona State University. After college, she spent a decade traveling on a solo journey and living in magical destinations like Mount Shasta, Maui, Sedona, Vermont, and high in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Her art was deeply transformed by these experiences.

Artist Statement

I explore the Divine nature of beauty and chaos in life experience and set out to express these observations in my artwork. My paintings honor nature and the old ways with most of the images being a reflection of my own contemplation of the cycle of Life, Death and Rebirth.
